Goose spent four seasons in professional baseball after a storied collegiate career at Utah Valley University, where he was the first, and only, first-team All-American in program history. Following his senior season he was selected in the MLB draft by the San Diego Padres. A two-sport all-state athlete at Orem High School where he excelled in baseball and basketball, Kallunki also owns a Certified Functional Strength Coach Level 1 certification.
During his college career at UVU, Kallunki led the Wolverines to three conference championships and the best record in all of NCAA Division I in 2012 while leading all of division 1 in RBI with an astounding 89 in just 59 games . That season UVU won a remarkable 32 straight games, just shy of a new NCAA mark. Kallunki was named one of three finalists for the Dick Howser Trophy for the top collegiate player in the country. He was also a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award along with the conference Player of the Year, the Region Player of the Year, and a consensus All-American. He was also honored 9 times in his career as national player of the week.
Goose’s goal is to build an organization with passionate coaches that want to develop passionate baseball players.
Pitching / Catching
Coach Berg has been part of good programs his entire life. He led Juan Diego Catholic High School to a state championship in both wrestling and baseball in 2009. After High school he spent his first two years as the starting catcher for Treasure Valley Community College (2010-11). He then moved on to Utah Valley University where he helped lead the Wolverines on a 32 game win-streak and achieve the best record in all of D1 baseball (47-12) in 2012. Berg is the epitome of what it means to be a catcher both mentally and physically. He is the Head of Pitching and Catching Development for the Academy.
Performance Trainier / Middle Infield
Coach Matos spent his first two years playing at Treasure Valley Community College before transferring to Northwest Nazar-ene University to finish out his career. Being a three-sport athlete in High School (Golf, Basketball, Baseball) made him very versatile on a baseball field , allowing the opportunity to play middle infield and pitch his entire career. After baseball Jon started to look into the way athletes are built which has led him to the Academy. He is NASM certified and is committed to continuously learning and remaining up to date on the way baseball players are built; as well as how to train your body to transition from sport to sport, season to season.
